Frequently Asked Questions

Can we have our tree cleaned up and the material hauled away?

Yes, we offer a variety of clean up services to assist you and work with your budget. We offer clean up services ranging from neatly piling the material for easy disposal, all the way up to complete material removal to make it look as if we were never there.

How do you price tree removals and pruning?

When it comes to tree care, there are no set guidelines for pricing. We determine how projects are priced based on certain factors. The main ones being: the health of the tree, its location in relation to targets, (ie. structures, other trees etc.) the type of clean up that is desired and the duration of the project from start to finish.

How do you remove trees that are close to my house or cottage?

Using high quality ropes (rigging), pulleys (blocks), and porta-wraps (brakes), we can break down trees when they are climbed. These arborist specific tools plus specialised cutting techniques can allow arborists to manipulate branches and stem wood to avoid targets and allow us to lower larger pieces to the ground with control. They can also help us steer trees away from targets when we are capable of felling them in one piece.

Are you insured?

Yes, we are insured with Full Liability Coverage, Personal Disability Coverage and are bonded. All of our sub-contractors are also verified and have full liability coverage.

Do you spray herbicides and pesticides?

Unfortunately we cannot. In Ontario you need a special license to handle and spread both broad spectrum and localised pesticides and herbicides as a commercial operator. In certain circumstances these may be the only options for treatment of tree health issues, however, we always attempt to find cultural and biological solutions for your tree care before we recommend using a contractor that uses chemical controls. Research has also shown that cultural and biological controls can be more effective than chemical ones in most instances.

Do I need a permit for tree care?

Fortunately, in almost all circumstances, you do not need a permit to remove, prune or plant trees in the Almaguin Highlands. The only instance where a permit may be needed is if trees that are living are removed from the shoreline of a body of water. Legally the municipality is in charge of the shoreline along most lakes. It is always wise to look into these laws before work begins. Check with your local township to confirm all tree ordinances that may be in place before beginning a removal project.
